The Weather Channel
The Weather Channel by Anna Danielewicz
Friday 10 February 2017
7 – 9pm
Performance (approx.) 7.20pm
A geopolitical weather oracle presented by Anna Danielewicz in conversation with Calathea Roseopicta. Varying between its interpretations as a cosmic force, social grease and the ultimate banality, the forecast will embrace the weather as one of the few commonalities we grudgingly share in the post-truth era.
As observed by Walter Benjamin, ‘Nothing bores the ordinary man more than the cosmos’. And yet it seems important that no matter what we do, or where we are, we are all under the same firmament, which is either blue or not.
Derived from a graduate residency at the Sculpture Workshop, the forecast will percolate through the artist’s news-reading habit and tackle pressing questions such as the likelihood of selling a framed drawing to a collector and possible links between ingesting spirulina and learning to love again faster.
The performance will happen in a space arranged with objects freely available for view. It will be followed by an informal game of skittles that can serve as an opportunity for gratuitous fortune-telling.
Drinks and Skittles to follow.
