Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop offers a wide range of evening and weekend courses in contemporary sculpture designed for all levels of experience including beginners. Courses are led by experienced and supportive tutors and by limiting class size we ensure that you will receive individual attention. We are delighted to offer all course participants one free day session to enable you to come back and work at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop or to experiment further with techniques learned.

ESW’s ‘Creative Laboratories’ shortlisted for
£3 million Arts Funding Prize for Edinburgh
In order to provide the ideal facilities for our day-to-day activities ESW is poised to begin building new world class premises on our present site however our vision of becoming an international centre of excellence for contemporary sculpture does not stop there! ESW is delighted that our proposal to build an ambitious 2nd development, the ‘Creative Laboratories’, is one of 3 projects shortlisted for the Arts Funding Prize for Edinburgh; a £3million prize administered by the Scottish Community Foundation on behalf of an anonymous donor.

The prize offers a unique opportunity to develop additional land alongside our new building and ESW is delighted that our capabilities, creativity and drive have been recognised by the judging panel. Significantly enhancing the planned facilities, the ‘Creative Laboratories’ would support ambitious research, sculpture production and cross-disciplinary activity. Public walkways and viewing areas would add a major new dimension to ESW’s public programme and the building would also provide the city with a unique venue for events, performances and exhibitions.
In total 13 organizations submitted proposals for the high profile award including the Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh Napier University, the Leith Theatre and the Demarco Archive Trust. Along with the two other shortlisted applications - the Scottish Book Trust and Edinburgh College of Art - ESW will now enter a more detailed 10-month development period with final designs and project details presented to the judging panel in April 2010. A single winner will be announced in late June 2010.
The ‘Creative Laboratories’ development is dependent upon ESW winning the Arts Funding Prize for Edinburgh. The Arts Prize does not affect the timescales and funding situation for our planned new building which we hope to begin building later this year.
