Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is pleased to host an artist talk with Claire Davies. Claire will speak about her recent work since receiving the Edinburgh Emerging Artist bursary. The bursary is funded by Edinburgh City Council, Creative Scotland and supported by Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
Claire works in a variety of media, from video and installation, to more recently working with sound and apps. Her practice primarily resources the spectacle and mystery of outer space, creating works considering our existence within this parallel journey.
As recipient of the bursary Claire has developed her practice through a range of short courses and research trips focusing on acquiring further skills in digital media. This has opened up several pathways, from a music video commission for band The Grubby Mitts, to developing applications for digital specific residencies and opportunities such as Metal’s NetPark in Southend-on-Sea, focusing on App production within a digital art park environment.
Claire Davies is a visual artist based in Nottingham. She graduated from Intermedia at Edinburgh College of Art in 2009.
Recent exhibitions include: MSB 2015, Stryx, Birmingham, 2015; Satellite Forecast, Radiophrenia, CCA, Glasgow, 2015; Vulcan Point, Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh, 2014 and The Light Years, Tin Roof and Generator Projects, Dundee, 2013. She has recently completed a residency at Metal, Southend on Sea. In 2009 Claire co-founded the artist-led project Rhubaba.
