Painters in Bronze

A unique collection of bronzes by Scottish artists commissioned by ESW.

In 2008 Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop invited some of Scotland’s best known painters and printmakers to make a unique collection of small bronzes cast in limited editions of six at Powderhall Bronze Foundry. 

The bronzes are available to purchase direct from Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. All proceeds will go towards ESW’s new sculpture centre which will provide the ideal environment for supporting artists and promoting public access to the arts. 

19 artists took part including Frances Walker, Victoria Crowe, Adrian Wiszniewski, Joyce Cairns, John Byrne and William Brotherston.

The project was generously supported by The Scottish Gallery, Powderhall Bronze and Alisdair Kettles Pottery Supplies and previewed at the Scottish Gallery in April 2009.

Further exhibitions of the work were held at The Fleming Collection in London, The Rendezvous Gallery in Aberdeen and Cyril Gerber Fine Art in Glasgow.
