Kate Owens

Kate Owens is the recipient of the 2013 Creative Initiative Award, a three month residency which provides funding and assistance to artists wishing to develop and realise innovative artistic projects.

Kate is developing a new installation and live public performance, based upon a 1954 Children’s book.
Occupying an indefinite position between directions for a stage play and loose proposal for a creative workshop this new work will be exhibited during the Edinburgh Art Festival.

Born in Bo’ness, Scotland, and currently based in London, Kate Owens studied Painting at Edinburgh College of Art (BA 2002) and Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, London (MA 2008). She was one of the founding members of Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh in 2003 and has previously undertaken residencies at Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgestone (2011)
