Emma Taylor
The next Micro Resident arrives at ESW in mid-September.
Careful simple forms, geometric patterns and a reduced colour pallet make up Emma E S Taylor's elegant and intricate visual vocabulary. Awarded the Warden's Purchase Prize 2010, Taylor graduated from studying Fine Art at Goldsmiths in 2010 with her work entering the collection as she left.
Taylor's work is concerned with density, materiality, and the instant quality of simple forms. With these concerns in mind, the majority of her work reveals itself in print and sculptural forms. These slick minimal objects are made from a variety of materials, MDF, aluminium, traditional printing techniques and through careful attention, reflect her curiosity in architecture and linear constructions.
Taylor's practice works towards an understanding of interactions, not just within its own construction, but also between the unfixed variables in play and art, light and space, agency and objecthood. Having exhibited and studied in London, Taylor is now based in Leith, Edinburgh.
