Job Opportunity
Schools Assistant

Deadline for applications: Monday 4 September 2017, 5pm

Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s Schools Programme has been running for five years. Four Primary 5 classes from Trinity and Victoria schools visit Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop for an hour a week for the duration of the school year taking part in a wide variety of workshops with practicing artists.

Over the school year pupils learn about different aspects of contemporary arts practice, produce work and participate in an end of year exhibition. As well as equipping them with practical and creative skills, pupils are encouraged to develop their critical faculties through discussions, studio visits and exhibition tours giving them the confidence to talk about and respond to contemporary visual art.

The Schools Assistant provides support for the Curator for Learning, who leads the programme, and for the artists who deliver workshops over the school year.  This is an interesting opportunity to learn about the planning and delivery of a programme which connects to the Curriculum for Excellence and to gain practical experience of evaluation methodologies.  We are looking for an individual with an interest in arts education to support the delivery of the schools programme.
