In order to support the production of a wide variety of contemporary artworks ESW has both wood and metal workshops kitted out with a general complement of machinery and tools.

Metal Workshop
MIG and TIG welders, Plasma cutter, Sheet rollers, Box Folder, Drill press,
Oxy-Acetylene kit and basic Forge.
Wood Workshop
Circular saw, Bandsaw, Planer thicknesser, Pedestal sander.
General
Forklift, Gantry, Compressor and Kiln for ceramics and glass.
ESW also provides a range of electric and hand tools as well as access to Personal Protective Equipment for workshop users. We charge session fees for day users and some equipment incurs a supplementary consumables charge.
Equipment and workspace can be booked on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
A dedicated technician is on duty from 9.30am – 5pm Monday to Saturday.
Before accessing the larger, fixed, machinery in the wood and metal workshops it is necessary to have a health & safety induction with a member of the technical team. Depending on your familiarity with the equipment you will then be able to work at ESW on your own.
If you are unfamiliar with the use of equipment in the wood or metal workshop one to one training can be arranged, or you can book onto one of ESW’s sculpture courses which will enable you to familiarize yourself with a range of workshop equipment.
Inductions Charges:
Metal Workshop £17.62
Wood Workshop £11.75
Some storage is available for materials and work in progress.
Lockers are also available to hire at a rate of £5 per month.
Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is located in Newhaven. |
