Studios

Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop's Bill Scott Sculpture Centre opened in July 2012, and is the first purpose-built, open access sculpture facility in the UK. It provides affordable studios and access to workshop facilities for the production of contemporary art. 

There are 26 studios at ESW, with 24 available on long term and short term leases and two used for ESW's Artistic Programme.

Studio applications are welcomed from professional artists working within contemporary sculpture practice.

Studio Rental rates (per month):

Solo studio: £136        2 sharing: £96      3 sharing: £64

Graduate Support Scheme (2 Studios): Within three years of graduating from a UK College or University, arts graduates can apply to the Graduate Support Scheme allowing them a reduced rate, shared studio for three years.

Studio rents in the graduate studios will rise over the period reaching the full studio cost by the end of the three year period, as follows:

2 sharing: Year 1 £76, Year 2 £82, Year 3 £88      3 sharing: £51, Year 2 £55, Year 3 £59

STUDIO HOLDERS' BENEFITS include:

- Wi-Fi
- 24 hour access all year to studios
- Free access to other workshop and meeting spaces for your own work (Wood, Metal & - Mixed Media Workshops*, Covered Yard, IT Space and Board Room), dependent on availability, advance booking required
- Opportunities to book spaces for exhibitions, talks or events that may support ESW’s professional education or research programmes
- Free artist’s page on ESW website

* Additional charges may apply for consumables and use of specialist equipment.

IMPORTANT: Please read the Studio Selection Process document BEFORE submitting your application, download below. 

Please complete the application form (link below) and submit by e-mail or post with the following:
• CV
• Artist’s statement
• Up to 12 images (jpeg or pdf), total attachment size maximum 10MB. Film or sound works to a maximum of 10 minutes in total can also be submitted on DVD. Please contact us if you wish to submit film or sound pieces as part of your e-mail application.
• Description of images and works, limited to one A4 page
