Title: Coming a cross a head
Date: 2008
Bronze, H 17cms x D 11 x W 19
The illusion of three dimensions in two, tromp l’oeil, visual and verbal wordplay have always been interesting to me and it has been instructive to try to achieve the illusion of two dimensions in three. I thought quite a lot about a title for the bronze – the relationship of title to work seems to be something I find central to my pieces – and considered “Sore Eye Eros” and “Trevor Eve, Ever Overt” before deciding on “Coming a cross a head”. The “Head Case” watercolour seemed like an appropriate accompanying picture – I hope and think they work quite well together. I have enjoyed the project immensely.
